Select pulses extend losses on tepid demand

Select pulses led by gram drifted further lower by up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale market today on fall in demand from retailers against adequate stocks position.
Traders said besides easing demand from retailers, ample stocks position mainly kept pressure on gram and a few other pulses prices.
However, trading activity remained thin on the back of crash crunch following the government banning Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, they said.
In the national capital, gram, gramdal local and best quality remained under selling pressure and lost another Rs 200 each to Rs 9,300-9,800, Rs 10,100-10,400 and Rs 10,500-10,600 per quintal, respectively.
Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani followed suit and quoted lower at Rs 4,500 each instead of Rs 4,700 each per 35 kg bag.
Arhar and its dal dara variety also declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,200 and Rs 8,100-9,900 per quintal, respectively.

Urad and its dal chilka too drifted down by Rs 200 each to Rs 7,000-8,000 and Rs 7,300-7,400 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 74,00-7,900 and Rs 7,800-8,100 per quintal.
