Select pulses remain weak on muted demand; higher supply

The wholesale pulses market remained weak for the second day and prices dropped by up to Rs 400 per quintal owing to slackened demand from retailers at prevailing levels against adequate stocks position on improved supplies.
Traders said subdued demand from retailers at current levels against sufficient stocks position in the market on increased supplies after the government took steps to check rising prices, mainly dampened the sentiment.
The rupee strengthening against the dollar, making imports cheaper also influenced sentiment to some extent, they said.
In the national capital, Urad and its dal chilka local dropped by Rs 400 each to Rs 9,600-11,000 and Rs 9,800-9,900 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya local followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 9,900-10,400 and Rs 10,300-10,600 per quintal respectively.
Gram eased to Rs 8,200-8,600 against last close of Rs 8,500-9,000 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality were down by Rs 200 each to Rs 8,500-8,700 and Rs 8,800-8,900 per quintal respectively. Besign Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted lower at Rs 3,800 instead of Rs 3,900 per 35 kg bag respectively.
Moong and its dal chilka fell by Rs 400 each to Rs 5,100-5,700 and Rs 5,650-6,050 per quintal respectively. Moong dal dhoya local and best quality enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 6,050-6,550 and Rs 6,550-6,750 per quintal.

Masoor small and bold too ended lower by Rs 150 each to Rs 6,000-6,300 and Rs 6,050-6,350 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,550-7,050 and Rs 6,650-7,150 per quintal.
