Select pulses rise on pick-up in demand, tight supply

Select pulses, led by urad, rose up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale market today on rising demand against tight supplies from producing regions.
Traders said besides rising demand, tight supplies from producing areas mainly pushed up urad and other pulses.
In the national capital, urad advanced to Rs 6,000-6,450 from previous level of Rs 5,500-6,100 per quintal. Its dal chilka local, best quality and dhoya were also up by Rs 200 each to Rs 7,000-7,200, Rs 7,200-7,800 and Rs 7,600-8,000 per quintal, respectively.
Masoor small and bold moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,450-5,700 and Rs 5,500-5,750 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,400-6,500 and Rs 6,500-6,600 per quintal.
Arhar and its rose by Rs 150 and Rs 200 to Rs 5,800-5,850 and Rs 7,200-7,500 per quintal, respectively.
In line with a general firm trend, gram, gram dal local and best quality were enquired higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,550-4,350, Rs 4,000-4,200 and Rs 4,100-4,400 per quintal, respectively.
