Select spices end mixed, copra holds stable

Black pepper prices firmed up in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today due to renewed buying activities from stockists and exporters even as availability continued to remain tight.
While, both the ginger varieties declined on the back of reduced retail offtake.
Elsewhere, copra, across the spectrum of varieties held stable in the absence of any worthwhile demand after recent sharp rally.
Black pepper rose by Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 775/825 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 770/820.
Ginger bleached and unbleached both fell by Rs 5 per kilo each to Rs 345 and Rs 365 respectively, as compared with Rs 350 and Rs 370 previously.

Black pepper (per kg) 775/825 (770/820), ginger bleached (per kg) 345 (350), ginger unbleached (per kg) 365 (370), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,000 (11,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 18,000 (18,000), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 13,700 (13,700).
