Selvakesari, who has previously served as the head of consumer banking in the country, will oversee consumer businesses across 12 markets where the Wall Street major offers retail banking, wealth management, credit cards and mortgage services, it said in a statement.
Citi's network in Asia consists of 500 branches in nearly 150 cities with a digital presence comprising seven million active customers.
Selvakesari will be reporting to global consumer banking chief executive Stephen Bird and also to Asia chief executive Francisco Aristeguieta.
The appointment is effective July 1 and Selvakesari will be replacing Jonathan Larsen who will be heading global retail banking and mortgages, Citi said.
