A seminar, highlighting how drug trafficking and cross border terror adversely affect the national security matrix, will be held in Haryana on April 12.
The topics of the seminar, organised by Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS), are 'Drug trade and its implications on national security' and 'Abuse of women: Challenges and responses' and will be held in Panchkula district, an official spokesman said here today.
"The aim of the seminar is to highlight how drug trafficking and cross border terror converge and complement each other and adversely affect the national security matrix," he said.
Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju would be the special guest of honour at the inaugural session of the seminar, he added.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would preside over the valedictory session of the seminar on April 12 with Union Rural Development Minister Birender Singh as its special guest of honour, the spokesman said.
He said that inaugural session would be followed by session on drugs issue which would be presided over by former Punjab DGP K P S Gill, who would also be the keynote speaker.
The session on women issue would be chaired by noted social activist Professor Rihana Khatoon.
"The topic on women's abuse would highlight the complex social and economic factors that become the underlying causes for women's abuse and deprivation. The seminar would also explore the possible or acceptable solutions that would help emancipate women from these socio-economic shackles," he said.
