"We don't need BJP's support," Desai said, speaking to a news channel here.
Sena emerged as the single largest party in the last week's civic polls with 84 seats, but fell short of the halfway mark of 114 in the 227-member house.
Asked about Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Bala Nandgaonkar's statement that his party would be happy to help the Shiv Sena, Desai said, "Seeking MNS' support is a closed chapter now."
Sena had spurned MNS' offer of alliance before the civic elections.
"I would be happy if the Mayor is from Shiv Sena. My roots lie in the Sena," said Nandgaonkar, who started his political career with Shiv Sena in the 1990s before joining MNS.
