Sena's Korgaokar elected as BMC's standing committee chairman

Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Korgaokar was today elected unopposed as chairman of the all-important standing committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Likewise, Sena's Shubhda Gudekar (66) was elected unopposed as chairman of the education committee of the civic body.
The 56-year-old Korgaokar is a four-time corporator.
The standing committee is the one which approves and allocates funds required for various projects or works carried out by the civic body.
In the standing committee, Shiv Sena and BJP have 10 members each. Congress has 3 members while NCP and SP have a member each.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has not selected any of its seven corporators to represent the party in the standing committee.
The chairman of the improvement committee and the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) committee, would be chosen in the next meeting of BMC.
