Senapaty likely to be new NCERT Director

Hrushikesh Senapaty, who is the Principal of its Regional Institute of Education in Bhopal, is understood to have been finalized as next NCERT Director.
The Director's post has been lying vacant for close to a year now after Pravin Sinclair stepped down in October last year.
A search-cum-selection panel, which had met last month, was believed to have shortlisted Senapaty and Anil Shukla, a professor in the department of education in Lucknow University, to head NCERT. But the HRD Ministry preferred Senapaty given his background in NCERT, sources said.
The selection of the new NCERT Director comes against the backdrop of the nation-wide consultation on framing the new education policy in which NCERT is a key stakeholder.
