A senior IAS officer in Rajasthan was tonight booked on charges of raping a civil services aspirant, police said.
In a complaint, the woman, aged around 23 years, alleged that IAS officer B B Mohanty raped her repeatedly on February 17 and 19 last year, after promising to help her in preparing for the IAS exam, Mahesh Nagar police station SHO Ramavtar Singh said.
An FIR was lodged against 58-year-old Mohanty, who is Chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal, following a court's directive. Singh said, "An investigation is on."
The woman alleged that Mohanty had called her to his flat in Swej farm area in February last year on the pretext of helping her prepare for the IAS exam and raped her several times.
The IAS officer also allegedly promised to marry the woman and took her on tours of places like Bharatpur, Agra, Goa, Udaipur from April to August last year.
When contacted, Mohanty rejected the allegations as "baseless". "This is all nonsense... The allegations against me are baseless," Mohanty said.
