Senior PREPAK militant arrested

A hardcore ultra of the banned militant outfit of Manipur, the PREPAK, was arrested here during a routine raid, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Nongmynsong area by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos of the state police and the militant leader was arrested last night, East Khasi Hills district SP M Kharkhrang told PTI.
The SP said the militant has been identified as Moriangthem Boboi Singh (37) hailing from Yairimpok village in Thoubal district.
Two laptops, four pen drives, eight cheque books of different banks, three sim cards, 1000 Kyat, two debit cards, two mobiles and an ipad were seized from his possession, Kharkrang said.

Singh admitted to the police that he was a senior cadre of the PREPAK outfit of Manipur and was holding the rank of a 'captain'.
Police said the militant leader had been staying in Shillong along with his family to evade arrest by Manipur Police for his involvement in serious criminal acts in that state.
The Manipur Police was intimated on Singh's arrest.
