However, all the three officers shall receive pay at DG-scale unlike other Special Commissioners who are considered equivalent to ADG-rank officials.
An order issued today by the Lt Governor's office states that the three Senior Special Commissioners of Police -- Vimla Mehra (IPS - 1978), Dharmendra Kumar (IPS - 1984) and Deepak Mishra (IPS - 1984) -- shall henceforth be Special Commissioner of Police (DG Scale).
However, it is still not clear whether the existing Special Commissioners will still report to the three officers, as they did when the three of them were promoted, a senior police official said.
Dharmendra Kumar was made the coordinator of a Special Unit, having under its ambit units like counter-terrorism wing Special Cell, the Crime Branch, Intelligence unit, Security and Traffic.
