Senior woman officer of Bhiwandi-Nizampur civic body attacked
Press Trust of India Thane Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, Vijaya Khanthe was allegedly roughed up by some unidentified persons in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi near here, police said today.
The incident occurred at around 11 PM last night when Khanthe's car was heading towards a petrol pump at Rahnal, said Assistant Police Inspector (API) V P Malshe of Narpoli police station.
Khanthe's car was driven by driver Ramesh Pawar when the incident happened.
"A person riding a scooter came in the way of the car forcing it to slow down and at the same time two more persons appeared and they roughed up the driver and also the DMC," he said, adding it's not known yet whether the attack was pre-planned or it was a case of road rage.
A case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC was registered in this regard and search is on to trace the accused.
