Sensex declines 25 pts on mild selling in late morning trade

The S&P BSE benchmark sensex fell by 25 points in the late morning trade at the special trading session today tracking overnight weak closing for the US stocks.
The stock exchanges are conducting a special live trading session today as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is testing its software.
The sensex resumed slightly lower at 21,752.44 and moved in a range of 21,762.38 and 21,726.42 before quoting at 21,728.66 at 1130hrs, showing a loss of 25.09 points or 0.12 pct from its last close.
The NSE 50-share Nifty also moved down by 2.75 points 0.04 per cent to 6,490.45 at 1130hrs.
Major losers were Hindalco Ind 1.06 pct, Dr Reddy's Lab 0.56 pct, Infosys 0.40 pct and Axis Bank 0.39 pct while gainers were M&M 0.78 pct, Sun Pharma 0.62 pct, Bharti Airtel 0.56 pct and Hero Motocorp 0.35 pct.
US stocks dropped yesterday pressured by a sell-off in the health-care sector, but major equity indexes still posted solid weekly gains.
Meanwhile, Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 4,222.10 crore yesterday as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.
