Sensex down 81 points in early trade
Press Trust of India Mumbai Continuing its slide for the second day in a row, the BSE benchmark Sensex fell by over 81 points in opening trade today on sustained selling by foreign funds, triggered by a weak trend in the Asian region.
The 30-share barometer fell further by 81.50 points, or 0.40 per cent, to 20,066.14. The index had lost 13.18 points in the previous session.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 13.65 points, or 0.22 per cent, to 6,090.65.
Trading sentiment remained bearish on sustained selling by funds and retail investors driven by a weak trend in the Asian region.
The Japan's Nikkei fell by 3.46 per cent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 0.37 per cent in early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.69 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
