SEO nabbed while accepting bribe from egg supplier

Anti-corruption vigilance sleuths today arrested a Social Education Organiser (SEO) on charge of accepting bribe from a supplier of eggs for mid-day meal scheme in K Nuagaon block in Odisha's Kandhamal district, official sources said.
The arrested egg supplier was identified as Nabakeshi Desinayak and a case has been registered against him under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, an official release said.
The SEO had demanded illegal gratification of Rs 8,000 from the complainant Padma Charan Sahu of K Nuagaon village in Kandhamal district to to process a egg supply bill amounting to Rs 74,090, it said.

"A trap was laid today by the vigilance officers of Berhampur Division. Accused SEO was caught red-handed by the sleuths in his office while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 8,000 from the complainant," the release said.
The bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of accused.
"Desinayak's hand and pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe," it said adding, the SEO has been arrested.
