Leaders of different factions of Hurriyat Conference were among those who called for the strike to press for early resolution of Kashmir issue.
Strict security arrangements were in place in the Valley in view of the Republic Day.
The Republic Day celebrations went off peacefully and there were no report of any untoward incident from across the Valley.
