Geelani, chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, head of the moderate Hurriyat, and JKLF chief Yasin Malik visited the S P College here, the venue of the book fair underway since Saturday.

The separatist leaders went to all stalls and talked to stall owners.

The Srinagar Book Fair, organised by the National Book Trust in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Language and Urdu Akadmi Jammu and Kashmir, began on June two and will continue till June 10.

Geelani told reporters the book fair should have been promoted properly.

"The stall owners are complaining that the government should have properly promoted and advertised this event," he said.

Malik appealed to people to visit the fair.

"The nation which has a culture of reading books has a rich civilisation," he said.
