Septuagenarian robbed of 30 sovereigns jewellery, Rs 30,000

A septuagenarian woman was robbed of Rs 30,000 cash and 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments by a man who trespassed into her house in Podanur here today, police said.
They said the 75-year-old woman, who was staying alone, was preparing food at around 8.00 AM when the man gained entry through the rear door and tied her up.
Even before she could raise an alarm, he removed her ear rings, bangles and a chain and snatched Rs 30,000 kept in the almirah before fleeing the scene.
The woman informed her neigbours, who in turn alerted police.
