SER notches up 11.59% growth
Press Trust of India Jamshedpur South Eastern Railway (SER) has registered 11.59 per cent growth on account of freight loading in the first month of the current financial year (April, 2016) against the corresponding period last year.
SER has carried the load of 11.84 million tonnes of freight as against 10.61 million tonnes of freight loaded during the corresponding month of last year, thus registering a growth of 1.23 million tones, according to a SER press release today said.
The major component of the loading feat in the first month of current financial year 2016-17 is 6.99 million tonnes of Iron ore, which is a growth of more than 25% compared to April 2015.
As a result of this remarkable performance, South Eastern Railway has generated freight earnings of Rs. 893.24 crores during the month of April of the current fiscal, which is Rs. 19.00 crore more than the corresponding month of last year, the release added.
