The SER topped the chart with 75.48 per cent marks as per performance from April, 2016 to December, 2016 among the 16 zones of the Indian Railways, SER spokesman Sanjoy Ghosh said today.
The Kolkata-headquartered zonal railway, which handles most of the freight traffic in mineral-rich Jharkhand and parts of West Bengal, has scored 9.95 out of 10 in originating freight loading.
In originating passenger traffic, the SER has scored 7.10 out of 10, according to the scoresheet made by the Railway Ministry.
During April to December in the 2016-2017 financial year, the SER has loaded 109.19 million tonnes of freight as against 97.70 million tonnes loaded during the corresponding period of 2015-2016, registering a growth of 11.76 per cent.

It surpassed Railway Board's freight loading target for the first nine months of 2016-17 by loading 3.97 per cent more than the target, Ghosh said.
During the first nine months of the current financial year, loading of iron ore was to the tune of 63.95 million tonnes, which witnessed a growth of 18.80 per cent compared to the same period last year and 7.95 per cent over the target.
