Serial on Manto's stories, Ila Arun show on DD Urdu's platter

A programme on Saadat Hasan Manto's stories produced by filmmaker Subhash Ghai's production house Mukta Arts, a musical reality show directed by singer Ila Arun and a serial-based on a play written by Union minister Salman Khurshid are among 40 new programmes that Doordarshan's Urdu channel is bringing to its audience.
Officials here said that these programmes will cover different genres to appeal to the different brackets of audience and are a part of the revamping of the channel.
The channel will showcase the serial based on the memorable works of Urdu literary stalwart Manto. Some of the fictions to be aired are based on classic Urdu literature like, 'Bagh-o-Bahar', a statement here said.
Arun will direct a musical reality show titled 'Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka, Mujhe Sochta Koi Aur Hai' which is scheduled every Sunday at 8 pm.
Among other programmes are four documentary series on science, painting and Urdu poets, two chat shows (one on marginality issues and other on women discourse), one health show, one cookery show, one travel show, one docu-drama named 'Hindustan Ki Talash' written by Salman Khurshid, a literary programme 'Aaftab-e-Sukhan', a programme for children titled 'Nasha Masiha'.
Other serials like 'Akhir Kab Tak', 'Aangan', 'Firangee' and 'Chiraagh' are also to be aired, the statement said. Three in-house programmes are also being aired including 'Guftagoo- Walk the Talk', 'Mubahisa', 'Yaadon Ke Dareeche Se', 'Aina-e-Maazi' and 'Mushaira' etc.
Some in-house programmes on National, Middle East, South Asia, neighbouring countries and international current affairs are also scheduled, the statement said.
