Opposition PDP today asked the Omar Abdullah government to immediately constitute special teams to assess the damage wrought by recent rains and flash floods in Jammu region.
The state government should set up special teams to assess the damage at the earliest and provide relief to the victims, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh said in a statement here.
This week's rains and flash floods had rendered many people homeless and washed away huge chunks of agriculture land, he said.
Hundreds of houses had collapsed and several people had lost their lives, Singh said.
There was a need to provide immediate relief to the people and special teams to assess the losses should be sent to the affected areas, the statement said.
All Deputy Commissioners should be directed to set up special cells in their respective offices to monitor relief operations, the PDP leader said.
