Four alleged Maoist cadres were apprehended from forests under the Koyalibeda police station limits of Kanker district today, while a joint squad of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the district police force carried out a combing operation in the region, Kanker SP, R N Dash told PTI.
Those nabbed have been identified as Rameshwar Anchala (29), Maniram Anchala (40), Shyamlal Dugga (30) and Shanvalu Ram (45), Dash said.
They were allegedly involved in several incidents of crime, including loot, arson, murder and attacks on police, the SP said.
The cadres were allegedly involved in an attack on security forces in Ehkali-Hadeli village forests in August this year, in which a police constable was killed, a senior police official said.
After joining the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) in 2008, the trio were allegedly involved in serious criminal offences in the region, the official said, adding that the arrested Maoists are being interrogated.
