Seven conmen arrested in two separate incidents in Dimapur

At least seven conmen were arrested for duping people posing as officials of airlines and goldsmiths in connection with two separate incidents in Dimapur district of Nagaland, the police said today.
Four persons were taken under custody from a hotel in Dimapur while they were posing as officials of Jet Airways and were reportedly conducting interviews for appointment in the company on November 1, stated a press release from the Dimapur police.
Receiving the information, the police raided the hotel and seized several documents and items including appointment letters and seals of Jet Airways, the release said.
Inquiry into the matter revealed they were conmen falsely representing the company and had already issued appointment letters to 15 candidates, the police said adding, their modus operandi included charging of registration fees from those appointed and direct appointment to various posts at the cost of prices fixed as per the position.
The accused persons have been identified as Saurav Mehra, Chamanlal, Manoj Sachdeva and Deepak Suri, all hailing from Punjab, the release said.
In the second case, the Police arrested three persons claiming to be gold merchants, while in the process of luring innocent victims by trying to sell off yellow coloured metals as gold.
The arrested have been identified as Ahadul Islam, Md Raul Amin and Hussain Ali, all hailing fron Nagaon, Assam.
Two yellow coloured metal weighing approximately 750 gms was also seized from their possession, the release added.
