Seven die in armed attack on Mexico money convoy

Five police officers and two bank employees died when armed bandits attacked their convoy carrying government assistance cash in a mountainous region in Mexico's southern Guerrero state, officials have said.
The robbery happened yesterday close to the town of Ahuacuotzingo, said a spokesman for the state security authority, Roberto Alvarez.
A truck from the state bank Bansefi transporting the equivalent of USD 55,000 meant for rural handouts was ambushed by an armed group.
One bank employee in the convoy managed to escape with a gunshot wound to her arm and raise the alarm.
Guerrero is one of Mexico's poorest states and is prey to violent organized crime, much of it focused on drug production and trafficking.
