The seven foot long leopard was spotted by a student last night, who immediately alerted the university authorities.
Panic swept through the university campus and nearby areas as the news of the presence of the leopard spread.
The university officials alerted police and forest department officials.
A ten-member team of Forest officials headed by Range Forest Officer, Prakash, spotted the animal near a bush inside the campus, but disturbed by the screams of about 3000 students who had gathered to watch the operation, the Leopard fled and took shelter in a nearby house.
The students heaved a sigh of relief following the capture of the animal.
