A local court has awarded life imprisonment to seven persons in 2010 Rohit Jain murder case.
The sentence was awarded yesterday by Additional Sessions Judge, Upendra Sonkar, against the accused and a fine of Rs 5,000 each was imposed on them, prosecution said today.
The seven accused are-- Rahul Sonkar alias Pappu, Gautam Sharma alias Golu, Ashish alias Veeru, Yogesh Pandit, Sajid Ali alias Pappu, Sadiq Raieen and Anand Baghel.
Following a dispute over purchasing a shop in a building in Tularam Chowk area here, which Gautam Sharma also wanted to purchase, Rahul Sonkar threatened Rajkumar Jain and his two sons, Ritesh and Rohit, to cancel the agreement they had entered into with the builder for that particular property. However, the trio refused to do so.
Later, Sonkar, along with other persons attacked them on January 30, 2010 with sharp weapons and also fired in air to terrorise people, following which Rajkumar, Ritesh and Rohit suffered grievous injuries.
Rohit later succumbed to his injuries, prosecution said.
Police later arrested the accused persons and recovered three pistols, including two country-made, and a sharp weapon from them and submitted the case for trial, following which the court awarded life sentence to the seven accused.
