Seven get ten-year jail in fake currency case

The district & sessions court Judge V K Pujara observed in his order that the convicts attempted to destabilise the economy by circulating fake Indian currency notes.

One of the prime accused in case Durgesh Padwani was an engineer working with BSNL at Godhra while Bahadur Singh Chouhan was one of the co-accused, prosecution said.

Padwani and Chouhan were arrested from Parvadi crossing near here in 2009 with Forged Indian Currency Notes (FICN) having face value of Rs 12.60 lakh.

According to prosecution, five others, including a professor from Patna, were picked up from various locations on revelation of Padwani and Chouhan during their investigation.
