Ganja weighing 110 kg was seized here and seven people, including a woman, arrested in this connection, police said Tuesday.
Police said they surrounded an eight-member gang following a tip-off Monday night, but one of them managed to escape.
A car and two two-wheelers used to transport the ganja were seized, they said.
Interrogation revealed that a person named Shaktivel was allegedly smuggling in the narcotic from Andhra Pradesh and supplying it to colleges through his associates with the woman's help, police said, adding that a dragnet has been spread for him.
A search is also on for the accused who escaped.
