Seven persons killed as jeep collides with truck in Gujarat

Seven persons including two women and four children were killed today and 13 others injured when a jeep they were travelling in collided with a container-truck on Anand-Sojitra road here, police said.
According to Police Inspector L V Waghela of Sojitra Police station, the incident occurred early today morning near Insav village of Sojitra taluka of Anand district, when the victims were heading towards Bhavnagar in search of work.
The victims were identified as the jeep driver Sumariya Dipiya Minava (25), Iriben Bhurji Hasaniya (40), Mamata Dilip Mundevariya (7), Fukhla Haru Hasaniya (7), Dhanbai Bhurjibhai Hasaniya (10), Nanjiben Dilip Mundevariya (10) and Santariben Lalubhai Usna (30).
All the victims were tribals from Kala Chhetar village of Alipur district in Madhya Pradesh who had come to Gujarat in search of work, the officer said.
Waghela informed that six persons died on the spot, while one woman Santariben succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Eleven persons, who sustained critical injuries, were rushed to the SSG Hospital in Vadodara city, while two other injured persons were taken to civil hospital in Petlad taluka of the distrcit," he said.
The police has registered a complaint against the truck-driver who is absconding after the mishap.
