Seven persons sentenced to life term in dowry death case

Additional Sessions Judge Vimlesh Tanwar held Sona Devi's husband Sukhvinder, brother-in-law Karnail Singh, sister-in-law Bala Rani, mother-in-law Reshma and other three relatives- Taro, Jaipal and Saroj guilty of burning her to death for dowry and pronounced the verdict on them.

However, the quantum of sentence for another accused in the case Sandeep, who is a juvenile, would be pronounced later.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 7,000 each on the accused.

On December 3, 2010 the victim's husband and in-laws set her on fire by pouring kerosene oil on her.

Though she was rushed to PGI, Chandigarh but later she succumbed to her injuries during the treatment.
