Seven year RI for raping a mentally challenged girl

Mahila Court here today sentenced a man to undergo seven years RI for raping a mentally challenged teenaged girl four years ago in the city.
The prosecution case was that the 42-year old Murugan, a tea vendor had entered the house of the 19-year-old girl, when she was alone and raped her on March 10, 2010.
Learning about the incident, the neighbours and passersby caught him and handed over to the police.
In his judgement, M P Subramanian today ordered Murugan to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for seven years and also directed the convict to pay Rs 55,000 to the victim.
