In a joint statement, the countries from across the globe including the UK and the US, reaffirmed their strong commitment to equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) citizens.
The signatories to the statement are Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, the UK, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Malta, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the US.
"At home, and increasingly abroad, many countries support, organise, or participate in events to celebrate the diversity of their citizens, to reduce discrimination and misinformation about the LGBTI community, to build on individual and collective achievements, and to highlight what needs to be done to ensure fundamental human dignity of all individuals and full equality for all human beings regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity," it said.
Planned events in the national capital include, the lighting of embassies in the iconic colors of the LGBTI rainbow flag, LGBTI film screenings, lectures, and other social functions.
