It may be mentioned that the octogenarian BJP leader, who was a Union minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, has been sulking since he was declined a second term as the state chief by the central leadership last month in favour of the more younger leader Pandey. Pandey's election as Bihar BJP president was seen as triumph of Sushil Modi, who was apparently displeased with Thakur for his pro-Narendra Modi remarks much to the displeasure of the chief minister Nitish Kumar whose opposition to his Gujarat counterpart is well known.
