Sewage treatment plant inaugurated in Cuttack

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday inaugurated a sewage treatment plant at Abhinav Bidanasi here.

The project was completed at a cost of Rs 110 crore and has a capacity to treat sewage of 3.30 crore litre per day.

Inaugurating the project, Patnaik expressed hope that the plant, built as part of the long-term solution for the drainage and sewage problems of the city, will keep clean the water of the Mahanadi and the Kathajodi rivers.

The chief minister also inaugurated a drainage pumping station at Police Colony in Tulasipur.

The pumping station with a discharge capacity of 72 lakh litres per hour will cater to the residents of Tulasipur, Bidanasi, Cantonment Road, Mangalabag areas.

On the day, Patnaik also laid the foundation stone for construction of ITI and a polytechnic institution at Sector 13 of the Abhinav Bidanasi, the satellite city of Cuttack Development Authority.

Patnaik also laid the foundation stones for construction of four students hostels at different places of the city for the members of other backward castes (OBCs) and the minority community students of the Christ College of the city.
