Four girls including two from Assam who were allegedly brought to Delhi on the pretext of job and then forced into prostitution were rescued by police and four persons arrested in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar alias Vikrant, his wife Aisha Begum, Chandan Kumar and Sunil Mishra. Police conducted two raids at different places in Delhi yesterday and arrested the accused and rescued four girls.
Police were able to rescue the girls, after one of them had called police on the night of July 25, in which she had told about her plight. She could not give proper address to the police and the call got disconnected.
Considering the gravity of the call, police swung into action and formed a team of officials to locate the girl. In this regard, the police traced the location of the call and then after getting the address, they raided the place.
The first raid was conducted at a first floor apartment at J&K Block in Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area, from where Vikrant and Begum were arrested and two Assamese girls were rescued, police said.
Based on the rescued girls' information, police raided another place in Lalita Park at Laxmi Nagar, from where two more girls were rescued. Sunil Mishra was arrested in the second raid by police.
Interrogation of the trio revealed that Sandeep and Aisha used to travel to Assam frequently and on the pretext of offering good salary jobs to the girls, they used to bring them to Delhi only to force into prostitution, said police.
Mishra was the co-accused while Chandan used to bring the customers from metro stations and used to keep strict vigil on the girls, said police.
All the arrested accused have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC, police said.
