Sex worker lodges FIR about missing child after help from DCW

After help from Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), a sex worker here had lodged an FIR alleging that she was forced into prostitution six years back and her daughter was taken away from her by a woman.
According to a DCW official, the woman, a widow from Andhra Pradesh, was brought to Delhi under the pretext of a job promise and was sold to a GB Road brothel six years ago.
"She was pregnant and delivered a baby who was taken away and the brothel owner who said she had to pay Rs 5000 every month for taking care of the baby.
"The woman in her complaint said in one and half years she was allowed to meet her child only once. However, in due course of time, she fell in love with one of her clients and got married to him four years ago," said the official.
When the woman wanted to leave prostitution and asked for her baby back from the brothel's head lady, the latter said that she never had a child.
"Woman for the past four years has been struggling to get her child back. She had approached us for help and met the DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal, who got in touch with police and asked them to take action in the case. The head lady has been arrested and the police are in lookout for those people to whom she sold the child," said the official.
When contacted, a senior police officer, "An FIR has been registered and we are investigating the case.
