Sexual abuse of minor: Judges to visit schools to sensitise

In the wake of sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl recently, judges of Rajasthan High Court will visit schools to sensitise students, teachers as well as parents about the laws and their rights with an aim of preventing recurrence of such crimes.
Acting Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Ajeet Singh has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident and shot off notice to the state government seeking reply by September 23 not only on the matter concerned but also on the issue of over-crowding of school vehicles.
He has also directed the judges to visit schools in the wake of the recent incident in the city wherein five-year-old LKG student of a reputed school was sexually abused allegedly by the driver of her school bus. The driver has been arrested.
The judges will create awareness among the students, parents, teachers as well as drivers of school buses and taxis about the laws with an aim of preventing such crimes.
Justice Singh also directed the District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) to hold regular camps in different schools of the city with a view to sensitise the stakeholders leading to check on such incidents.
"DLSA has been directed to organize mega literacy camps in the schools and we have planned to begin the same from the Tuesday itself, which is the World Literacy Day," said DLSA Secretary Dheeraj Sharma.
Sharma said that in the first phase of the campaign, the DLSA has chosen four government girls of the city, where the team of DLSA will go tomorrow and enlighten them about the laws pertaining to the issue and their rights apart from various legal provisions, available to them.
