After filing a cheating case against a city school, where a nursery student was sexually assaulted, police today arrested a functionary of a trust running it in connection with charges of violation of norms.
Meanwhile, there was no breakthrough so far about the culprit even as probe continued into the offence against the child.
General Secretary of the trust KRK Reddy was arrested and questioned in connection with the cheating case filed against the "Orchids, The International School" where the three-and-half-year old girl was sexually assaulted three days ago, Joint Commissioner (Crime) Hemant Nimbalkar said.
Cases under various IPC sections including 420 (cheating) besides RTE Act were filed last night against the school on a complaint from Deputy Director of Public Instructions H B Manjunath after it was found allegedly functioning illegally, flouting the rules and law and cheating public, he told PTI.
He, however, said no arrest has been made in connection with the sexual assault and the investigation was continuing in this regard.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also said "...Investigation is going on. We are doing it seriously."

The incident, the third such in the last four months in the city, triggered protests from outraged parents.
A criminal case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 and IPC section 376 (rape) on a complaint from the child's father.
After the violation of norms came to light, the school has been booked under section 18 (5) of the RTE Act which stipulates that if a school operates without a certificate of recognition, it shall cease to function.
Additional Commissioner (Law and Order) Alok Kumar said no arrest or detention has been made so far in the case.
School staff members were being questioned and CCTV footage was being examined by police, he said.
