SFI march turns violent in various parts of the state
Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram Police used lathies, tear gas shells and water cannons to chase away marches taken out by Students Federation of India (SFI) activists in various parts of the state, demanding resignation of Education Minister Abdu Rabb following delay in printing textbooks for students of the government run schools in Kerala.
In the state capital, the activists, who tried to take out a march to the secretariate were prevented by police personnel. Angered over this, the students, who gathered near the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium here, pelted stones at the police.
Police used water cannon, lathies and burst tear gas shells to chase away the protestors.
In Kozhikode, also the SFI march turned violent and police used lathies and burst tear gas shells to chase away the students.
