An SGPC executive committee meeting held here under the chairmanship of Kirpal Singh Badungar accepted Singh's resignation. Badungar said Singh voluntarily retired from the post and will July 31 will be his last working day.
In another decision, the SGPC sacked two employees who were allegedly found consuming liquor recently in an inn of Takht Damdama Sahib.
Badungar said there is no place for these types of employees in gurdwaras and such offenders will not be spared at any cost.
The executive committee also dissolved the directorate of education of the Sikh religious body, which was set up in 2002, to revamp it into a new one.
