SGPC passes annual budget of Rs 1,100 crore

The Shriomani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the body managing the affairs of Sikh shrines, today passed its annual budget of Rs 1,100 crore.
The SGPC is also known as 'mini parliament of Sikhs'.
The budget was passed under the supervision of SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar and presented by religious body's General Secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla, who also highlighted the religious activities undertaken last year.
Reading the budget, Chawla said that during the financial year 2017-2018, the SGPC has kept Rs 148 crore as education funds, besides Rs 200 crore for educational institutions run by the SGPC and Rs 73 crore for religious promotion activities.
Badungar said Sikh students who follow the religion's customs were also baptised and those passed UPSC and state PCS exams will be rewarded with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 respectively.
