Like every year, hundreds of fans gathered outside his bungalow 'Mannat' in suburban Bandra to catch his glimpse, which made Shah Rukh "emotional".

Dressed in an off-white jacket, black T-shirt and blue denims, the actor cut the cake with the media.

He said he felt "overwhelmed" by seeing the number of people to wish him on his special day.

"It feels great that so many people come here to wish me. I wish I could meet them... But if I do so, it will be all unorganised," he told reporters.

He has reportedly decided to keep his birthday celebration absolutely low-key, reason being the sudden demise of filmmaker Yash Chopra.

"I am not one for big birthday parties... But it has become a tradition... It is the family and friends who come over to wish," he said.

"I am an actor, who gets paid for his job. I hope the amount of love continues. I am happy that apart me and my family, others are also excited about my birthday. I am touched.

"I never had big dreams. I wanted to work hard and be accepted. I am happy and thankful that I have got more than what I have asked for. I will never do anything to tarnish this happiness that I have achieved," the 'King of Bollywood', who has acted in more than 70 films and ruled the industry for over two decades, said.

"I get up everyday and wish to work hard and pay the love and care that I have been receiving," he added.
