Shahsi Tharoor launches new book in Dubai

Tharoor's assessment of Indian diplomacy over the years in the form of his new book 'Pax Indica' was released here by UAE foreign affairs minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Tharoor, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, an author of 13 books, said in a globalised world, a country's domestic scenario - be it food imports or energy security - were linked to its foreign relations, according to The Gulf Today.

Speaking about the book, Tharoor said he has tried to indicate where Indian diplomacy needs to focus on in the world of the 21st century.

Tharoor said India's rise in the comity of nations has made its presence in the global arena more significant. And in the 21st century, it has to play an important role on various fronts, including regional security, the paper said.

Prominent Indian community members, including India's consul general to Dubai Sanjay Verma and chairman of India Club Ram Buxani were present at the function.
