Shakil Shaikh, who was named on the 11 member managing committee by the government today to run the cricket affairs in the country, claimed at a media conference that Basit was a corrupt person and used to run a book.
"What he has said is unfounded and baseless and he has tried to slander my name. I will file damages against him," Basit said.
Basit was appointed head of the regional cricket academy in Karachi by Zaka Ashraf who was sacked as chairman by the government today.
"Zaka Ashraf took many illegal and unconstitutional decisions which will all be undone," Shaikh said.

"He appointed Basit to an important post when it is known that Basit is corrupt and ran a book. Similarly everyone knows the background of Aamir Sohail and the damage he did to Pakistan and Lahore cricket," Shaikh alleged.
The charged up Shaikh had earlier called former captain, Wasim Akram a "fixer" on a television channel, before being snubbed by the anchor to not make allegations without evidence.
