Shankar Agarwal appointed Secy, Women and Child Development

Senior IAS officers Shankar Agarwal and Vijay Laxmi Joshi have been appointed as Secretary in ministries of Women and Child Development and Panchayati Raj respectively.
Agarwal, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is now Special Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.
The vacancy in the ministry of Women and Child Development arose following superannuation of Arun Kumar Jain, a 1977 batch IAS officer of Nagaland cadre, according to a release issued today by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Vijay Laxmi Joshi, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, is the new Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The vacancy had come up due to retirement of Loretta Mary Vas, a 1977 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Joshi, who had got the rank and pay of Secretary on April 1, was under compulsory wait in the Department of Commerce, till this appointment.
