With Vaghela's appointment, ITDC Chairman and Managing Director Lalit Panwar becomes Vice Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the PSU.
Appointment of Vaghela, also a former union minister, as part-time Chairman of ITDC was approved by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) on May 31.
TMC leader and Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed had opposed the decision to appoint Vaghela as ITDC Chairman.
ITDC offers accommodation, catering, transport, duty free shopping, entertainment, publicity, consultancy, manpower training as well as hospitality education.
