"Even after their application has been rejected twice by the EC as its not backed by any valid papers, Sharad Yadav and his aides are trying to buy time from election panel," new JD(U) Parliamentary party leader in Parliament R C P Singh told PTI here today.
"They are doing so with sole intent to use their plea a 'shield' to protect the Rajya Sabha membership of Sharad Yadav," Singh, a trusted aide of Nitish Kumar, said.
Singh, who replaced Yadav as Parliamentary party head, described as "unconstitutional" Sharad Yadav faction calling a meeting of national executive earlier on September 17 and now summoning national council meet on October 8.
"They have no constitutional right to call any such meeting of the party," he said.

Singh laughed at Yadav raising issue against election of Nitish Kumar as President of JD(U) of which he himself was a part.
"I and Javed Raza (suspended JD-U General Secretary who is now approaching EC on behalf of Sharad Yadav) had apprised the EC then about Nitish Kumar election as party President," he added.
Differences between Sharad Yadav and Nitish Kumar factions in the wake of disintegration of the Grand Alliance have reached a point of no return now and the two groups have knocked the EC for allotment of symbol to them.
