Former Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav today criticised Naresh Agrawal, who quit the Samajwadi Party to join the BJP, for his controversial comments targeting Jaya Bachchan and said she was a top actor and Agrawal should not have made such "petty" comments.
"Jaya Bachchan is a top actor. Naresh Agrawal should not have made such petty comments against her," he said.
Agrawal, who quit the SP to join the BJP, created a furore with comments belittling actor-politician Jaya Bachchan as someone "who used to dance in films", remarks dubbed "unacceptable" by BJP leader Sushma Swaraj.
"I have been reduced to somebody working in films. For somebody who used to dance in films, act in films, I was denied a ticket (for Rajya Sabha). I did not find it appropriate," Agrawal said while joining the BJP at its headquarters.
